Synopsis
Kaycia Durand has a crush on her new neighbor. But since she packed up her life to follow her dream of working as a full-time artist in the city, she’s forced herself to focus on her work—not the hot guy next door. She’s determined to prove her family wrong about what they see as a foolhardy venture, even if she finds herself isolated and homesick. Little does she know the guy next door has noticed her, too.
Exiled from his pack after a fatal, reckless night ten years ago, wolf shifter Shane McKinley has built a quiet life hidden from anyone who might recognize him from the past. Even so, he remains alert to potential threats from old grudges and keeps all but his closest friends at a distance until a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Kaycia.
After months of stolen glances, sparks fly between the shifter and the human, giving them both a reprieve from their mutual loneliness. But when his past comes back to haunt him, threatening Kaycia in the process, Shane must confess the truth of his nature, leading them down a path of passion and peril.
Sunset Daydreams is the first book in the new Wolves of Woodbine Hollow series from L.B. Benson. This paranormal romance features shifters, next-door-neighbor romance, cute banter, steamy romance, and found family.
Thoughts
I absolutely loved this spicy shifter romance! Shane was irresistible with his possessive, bad boy charm that kept me hooked from the first page. Kaycia was so endearing with her artistic enthusiasm, and I found myself rooting for her as she navigated her new life in the city. Their chemistry was electric, and the sparks between them made for some truly captivating moments.
Flirty Max was another highlight for me. His playful demeanor added a fun dynamic to the story, and I can't wait to see more of him in book two. The world-building was rich and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the tale of shifters and their hidden lives.
The pacing was perfect for a quick read, yet the plot was well-developed and engaging. I appreciated how the author balanced the steamy romance with elements of suspense and danger, especially as Shane's past came back to haunt him. It added an extra layer of depth to the story, making it more than just a simple romance.
Overall, this was a delightful, quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next installment in The Wolves of Woodbine Hollow series!
