I absolutely loved this book. While it delves into incredibly dark themes—including domestic, physical, and sexual violence (so be mindful of content warnings)—it was also emotionally captivating and utterly immersive. The story is a murder mystery wrapped in a magical package, unfolding through Piers Corbin’s journey of self-discovery and vengeance.
The bane witches’ magic system was one of the most unique elements of the book. Their ability to consume poison and turn it into a deadly weapon was both fascinating and chilling, and I loved uncovering the history behind their legacy. The novel’s emphasis on female power, resilience, and justice made every moment satisfying—watching these men get their just desserts was deeply cathartic.
This story was so much more than I expected, and I’m already eager to read more by Ava Morgyn. If you love dark fantasy with a feminist edge, morally gray heroines, and a touch of murder mystery, The Bane Witch is a must-read.

Pairs well with a blackberry sage black tea.
