Sarah Hawley’s Servant of Earth is a breathtaking romantasy that seamlessly blends high-stakes trials, a richly crafted Fae realm, and a slow-burning rebellion. Fans of Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer L. Armentrout will find themselves enthralled by the underground kingdom of Mistei, where danger, romance, and the fight for freedom collide in this captivating new tale.

Thank you Sarah Hawley, Ace Books, and PRH Audio for the free audiobook.

This book was absolutely amazing! Having loved Sarah Hawley’s Glitter Falls series, I wasn’t sure what to expect from her foray into high fantasy, but Servant of Earth fully exceeded my expectations. The worldbuilding was incredible, with Mistei brought to life in vivid detail, from its ruthless court politics to the six magical trials that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was intricate, well thought out, and beautifully paced. I’m completely obsessed with this story and already dying for the next book in the series. I truly hope Hawley continues to write high fantasy, as she has a clear talent for it.

Kenna Heron, the protagonist, was a standout character. Her grit, ferocity, and emotional depth made her journey compelling and utterly relatable. The sentient dagger added a unique touch of humor and mystery to the story, while the romance with the rebellious leader was slow-burn perfection, filled with tension and heartfelt moments.

I also enjoyed Mia Hutchinson-Shaw’s narration. While her male voices didn’t quite stand out to me, her portrayal of Kenna was phenomenal. She perfectly captured the character’s sadness, fear, pain, and anger, bringing Kenna’s emotions to life in a way that added another layer of depth to the audiobook.

Servant of Earth is a masterpiece of romantasy that combines pulse-pounding action, a richly woven narrative, and unforgettable characters. I can’t recommend it highly enough to fans of magic-infused tales of rebellion and resilience. This is one of my favorite reads of the year!
