R.A. Salvatore’s Pinquickle’s Folly is a swashbuckling high-fantasy adventure filled with pirates, rebellion, and unexpected alliances. Set in the world of Corona, this novel introduces readers to a new coastal setting and a ragtag crew of sailors—once enemies, now bound by a common cause.

Thank you R.A. Salvatore, Saga Press #SagaSaysCrew, and NetGalley for the free book!

I’ll admit, the first few chapters were rough. The world-building, while intriguing, felt a bit too bare-bones at first, making it difficult to grasp the political and historical stakes. Keeping track of all the characters was a challenge early on, but once they settled into place, the story became much more engaging.

Despite the slow start, the book delivers on action and adventure. The high-seas setting is immersive, and I found myself invested in the characters and their journey. While some moments felt a bit rushed or even silly, the overall narrative was fun and entertaining.

The audiobook narration was solid, and I appreciated that the male narrator didn’t default to exaggerated falsettos for female characters. The character voices were well-distinguished, making the story easier to follow.

Overall, Pinquickle’s Folly is a fun read once you get past the initial hurdles. If you love pirates, rebellion, and classic high-fantasy adventure, it’s worth the read—even if it takes a little patience to get into.

Pairs well with a masala chai with a splash of rum [extract].
