I absolutely loved this story! The grumpy vs. sunshine trope was executed to perfection. Abby’s hilariously sharp wit and grumpiness had me laughing out loud, while Seth’s sweet, sunshiny demeanor made him an instantly loveable dreamboat. The banter between them was top-tier and had me rooting for their connection from the start.
One of the standout aspects was how this wasn’t an insta-love fake-dating trope. Instead, the relationship blossomed organically, beginning with Abby yearning for Seth’s friendship before realizing her deeper feelings. This made their romance feel authentic and deeply satisfying.
The story also beautifully highlighted Abby’s journey of self-discovery and reconnection with her Jewish faith. Her struggle to balance Hanukkah traditions with the pressure of Christmas-centric norms felt genuine and relatable. I loved how the book celebrated cultural differences while providing a heartfelt commentary on identity and community.
Kelli Tager’s narration was fantastic. Her portrayal of Abby’s grumpiness and vulnerability brought the character to life, while Seth’s warmth radiated through her voice. It was a joy to listen to, and Tager’s performance perfectly complemented the story’s tone.
Overall, Love You a Latke was the perfect holiday romance—funny, heartwarming, and rich in tradition. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for a cozy, feel-good read this holiday season!
